Flight attendants have been heroic in real emergencies and crashes. Some have lost their lives while trying to help passengers in these circumstances. In the air, the routine is busy. The attendants deal with passengers’ questions and special needs, help make small children and elderly and handicapped persons comfortable, serve drinks and snacks, and, after this routine, collect all those rumpled napkins, empty cups, cans, and other trash.
