These systems exploit measurements of physical quantities related to beacon packets exchanged between the mobile and the anchors (devices deployed in the environment whose position is a priori known).
This is useful in the case of AAL scenarios involving the use of assistive robots . , a fall detection or emergency call, the caregiver can pilot the robot in the last known room occupied by the user for a prompt reaction. Recently, an international competition, called EvAAL (Ev aluating AAL Systems through Competitive Benchmarking), has been organized in order to evaluate and compare indoor localization systems for AAL solutions . In particular, the last three years EvAAL focused on evaluate several localization systems not only from the point of view of position accuracy and system reliability, but also on compatibility with existing standard, deployment eﬀort and user acceptance [6–8].
